2000 Beetle TDI, remote start

I had a professional shop install a remote start on my vehicle. It will not work after the car has set for several hours.No light flashes, nothing. Its like the whole system is off. If you start the car by key and set everything up, the remote start will start to work again. Has anyone seen this problem? If so, what does the shop have to do to fix it? Thank You

Hmmm...interesting. How about keyless? does it still work? Or is it the remote start itself that stops working? Is it a standard? (I can't remember) Where'd they take power from? About the only circuit that doesen't go to sleep on a VW is the key, the battery itself, and the keyless module. If they decided to get their 12v constant somewhere else, when the car goes to sleep, so will the starter(for all intents and purposes) Or, perhaps, they didn't go into the doors for the doorpins like they have to, and it is getting kicked out of "ready mode" (once again, assuming standard transmission)

Thank you so much, Yes, it is a standard. Nothing works.
It fades in phases. First, the instrument lights come on
like it is going to attempt a start and then the lights
cut off and no start. The keyless remote still works.
Then after another hour or so the lights come on and go
back off, no start attempt. Keyless still works. Went to
bed and next morning, lights flash one time and thats it
No start, No keyless nothing. Its like there isnt a remote start or keyless entry on car. Door led still on.
Get in car start and immediately turn off. Try remote
still dead. Restart w/key, let it run for 10-30 sec,just
a little bit, turn off. Everything starts working fine,
like nothing wrong, keyless entry, horn beep,remote start,everything. They did say that they got power from
an open slot on the fuse box. Is this probably the problem? If so, where do they need to terminate for proper power supply?

Open spot on the fuse box???? Tell them to obtain power at the keyswitch. They could also get it at the main power feed for the fuse/relay bank, there is a 4ga on one of them that feeds it, it's fused for 120A at the battery. Any of the "open" positions on the bottom of the relay panel in the car are for other accessories, or are used in other models. Sounds like something simple.... get them to move their 12v source to either the main input stud on the bottom of the relay panel, or get it at the keyswitch.

that it kind of defeats the purpose of having a remote
start on the car, If I have to start the car to get the
remote to work!!

PS-One more thing.If they ran a wire straight to the
battery would that definately fix this problem once and
for all? Thanks again!

I might just do that myself, if that will solve this problem
