i bought my 97 cheve caviler used. it is suppost to have passlock 1 on it. it dose have and alarm light by the speedometer. but i have a copied key. so it dosnt have a chip in it. did they bypass it so this would work. or dose passlock not need the chip in it.

Those don't have chips in the key. Resistance codes.

No, the Passlock I system doesn't require a special key. The anti theft is in the ignition barrel.
