Hello All! I have a 2003 Dodge Dakota that uses a negative trigger single wire door locks. I found two diagrams on how to tackle this job for installing a Crimestopper RS900VII. Method 1- Uses (2) relays, (2) 620 ohm resistors and (2) 315 ohm resistors. Or Method 2- Uses (2) diodes (in place of the relays) and the same resistors as above. Now I have a few questions if you dont mind: 1- Every other site I visit seems to have a different size/value resistor for the same function....what gives? 2- Altho Id rather take the easier/cheaper route by using method 2.....Ive read "when using the diode method the resistance values may need to be altered due to voltage drop of the diode.".......Is there a relatively easy way to measure this so I could put in the correct resistors or are referring to unordinary installs with very long runs? 3- Lastly, the resistors I purchased above have a red tolerance band (2% I believe) is there any difference and can any harm come from using the wrong one? MANY THNX IN ADVANCE if you guys can help me out here!:D

correction only 1 resistor of each value in either method above.......no edit function stinks.

i juts did one of those 20 mins ago, and the correct resitor values are 320ohm for lock and 800ohm for unlock.

Thnx Dan! What did you use the relay or diode method? And do you always use those resistors irregardless of make/model of alarm/remote start? I ask only cuz Ive been told WebTech's info is usually spot on. TIA!

Again TY for supplying me with more data!!! Heres the data Ive been provided with from here, searches and misc. sites: DEI- 330/Unlock - 820/Lock TechWeb- 315/Unlock - 620/Lock DesignTech- 330/Unlock - 820/Lock BulldogSecurity- 330/Unlock - 820/Lock Hmmmmm well if majority rules I guess it looks like Im gonna have to go to the electronic store again for a 330/820 resistors. The only other info that I was pleased to see in the data above is the 'MUST use' relays info. I actually did all the work this evening so Im gona have to undo the resistor part. Image wont show......disregard.

I NEED SOME HELP!  I finally got my replacement unit today and the remote start works great! The ONLY problem Im still having is I cant get the door lock/unlock feature to work with these new remotes. FWIW- I used this diagram for reference> https://www.designtech-intl.com/Content/techsupport/documents/section04/note211.pdf I also tried using the resistor values CrimeStopper calls for (315/620) and also the values that were recommended above (330/820). Anyone know what Im doing wrong here?

Uh... I never saw this. Option 2 isn't an option. Resistor values are 330/820. Take the 330 and connect it to a piece of wire. Ground the wire and touch the resistor to the wire. If this works then you wired your relays wrong. If this doens't work then you have the wrong wire.

As auex said, make sure that you have the corerct wire. The other thing is that Dodge door locks requires a relay to ground to operate properly. With the resistance to ground, most units can't produce a strong enough current of ground to operate inline resistors from ground to toggle lock/unlock. Make sure that you use the proper wire on the Dakota and use relays.

Auex & Velocity Motors: I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your patience and assistance! If it werent for that troubleshooting tip above on making sure I had the correct wire Im not sure if I would of ever got it to work properly. I had the wrong WHITE/ green wire! There are three (3) plug connectors that go into the CTM, I thought I had the right wire cause the wire I did have was also in the #10 pin but I had the wrong connector. Just for future reference Dakota owners its the CENTER plug that you want to grab the WHITE/ green wire from!  Incidently, the 315/620 Ohm resistors work fine triggering the door locks.....I had the extra resistors to add inline if it didnt and it turns out that I didnt need them. Thnx AGAIN!
