01/02 Dodge Dakota & Durango On the dash there is alarm "SECURITY" indictor that flashes when the factory alarm is armed, is it possible to use this indicator instead of installing the LED.

If I remember right, that indicator is part of a circuit board and can not be tapped into. The trucks brain checks all of the indicators lights when you turn your ignition on, if it did not see that for some reason, it would possibly turn on the check engine light.

I have pulled the intrument clustor out of vehicals and put the after markey led in there and have the led work as the security light on the dash.. haven't done it in the durango but don't see a reason why not..

you can do this the theft light is seperate from the databus. the wire you are looking for is black orange on connector 3 of the ctm in the driver kick. it looks as though it is a positive feed though. the other side is an ign feed which will drop off to ground when the key is off . hope this helps. good luck
