Push to start button

Hey guys, got another question. I have a push to start button in my dash already, it works once I turn the key to the run position and then it starts the car. is there a way to completly bypass the key altogether, but not have the car always in the run position, as this would drain the battery pretty quickly. basically I want to be able to dis-arm the alarm, get in the car and push the button to start the car, any suggestions?

Basically what you need to do is unplug your ignition switch and use relays to open and close the circuits with a toggle switch - one for ignition and one for accessory. You also need to use a relay for crank too, utilizing a push button. Hook up the 12v constant to the 87 and 86 pin on each relay, one for each circuit. Then hook pin 30 up to each circuit in the car. take your toggle switch and push button, ground one side and run the other side to pin 85. This way the relay is handling all the amperage, and the switches aren't overworked. I usually put the toggles in an easy to access location and hide the push button where only you know it's location. Then all you have to do is mechanically remove the ignition switch so the steering column can't lock. Let me know what kind of car and maybe I can throw you some tips on getting the lock cylinder out. let me know

hey, thanks for the reply... So basically what you're saying is that I would have to get in the car, flip a switch to turn on the electrical system, and then hit the start button to start the car correct? is there a way that it can all be handeled by the start button? as I can see myself forgetting to disengage that switch after turning off the engine, and leaving the electrical system on and draining my battery.

my problem isn't installing the start button, I already have that, what I wanted was a way to have the ACC turn on with the button and stay on, so I wouldn't need any switches to turn on the ACC, and electrical system to the car.

thanks for that... I will take a look at that. I am not worried about someone stealing my car because I have a Clifford RSX 3.5 Alarm /RS system installed, not that it's unbeatable, but I also have no door handles, so there is no lock to jimmy, and no handle to open the door with; so they ! have ! to break a window, wich trips the window sensors, and if I'm for some reason more than 1/4 mile away from the car I get a txt msg to my cell phone that a sensor has gone off. also where I work is right next to the cop shop, and I have a cop on either side of my house, and across the street... (kinda sucks though) I'm not too worried about someone even thinking about breaking into my car. OH, and I will also be installing this : https://www.bypasskit.com/product.aspx?prodid=RFKE-22&catid=6 into my car as well, so without that transmitter the button won't do a thing....

I have looked over the link hagmanti provided, and it will do the trick, as I have a start button, and a kill switch, so that solves the problem I had.

WHOA!  (Stumbling)  Uh dude sir, where, what, (stammering) Ahem, how can I get my vehicle to page me with the text msg thing to my wireless T-Mobile Sidekick?  (In case you asked what phone I use)

I was divided on how to setup my vehicle security system to be able to notify me of a tripped alarm but felt constrained by the limited range some system gives.  I think the ultimate security setup is a combination of remoteless / keyless entry (Keynokey) that can call you if the system is tripped.  Who knows, I might work on a true keyless vehicle that operates entirely on the transponder technology like on those fancy new cars.

Any help, direction, etc you could give me, I would very much appreciate it!

take a look at the CLifford RSX 3.5, and their GPS technology. it sends me an email when the sensor is tripped and then I have it set to my phones email address...

How much is the service a month?  And is it something that I can install & activate myself?

well up here in canada, I have a deal to get the service through my cell provider... the communication for the GPS unit runs off cell towers. and you can install and activate it yourself.
