I have a simple task, that for the moment, have made worse.

I have a simple (through-hole) pc board from my 97 grand prix  analog

temp unit. I tried soldering a couple wires to the back of the defrost switch, but all I've succeeded in doing is breaking continuity from the switch to the trace.

I've re-soldered it about ten times with no improvement. The circuit only completes now if I jumper to the trace.

(I want to hook these wires to a relay so I can remotely activate the defrost)

Can someone give me a heads up on technique, or a certain type of solder I should be using?

Thanks!

-Chris
