hi,

i'm going to use the lock/unlock wire to open/close side mirrors whenever car arms/disarms. give me some opinions on this idea. i did this on a 90 civic .works fine ....tell me if the motors on the mirror will take unnecessary wear.?

I never heard about this one.. not a bad idea to catch attention. I would guess it depends on what kind of vehicle you are doing. I would use window modules that will stop when it feels something holding it down.

If the mirrors work with a pulse to active it, by all mean you should try it. I would use diodes and relays. The plain door lunlock/lock output may not be strong enought o trigger it.

The mirrors will require a reverse polarity system. You need a latching relay to accomplish this feat.

I did this on a corolla 90' and 90 civic. both cars just needed a pulse to open and  the same pulse (polarity) to close . There is a circuit which tells the motors when it is fully closed/open so they can shut down (built into the mirror0 circuit.) i just tapped of the n/o control switch from the control panel and sent my signal there . on the 90 corolla this signal comes from the channel 2 of the alarm . on the civic it is powered by the door/unlock wires.

My car 92 sentra has a more difficult wiring . 4 wire reverse polarity and the signal has to be on long enough for the mirrors to open /close . will the 4 wire reversal door lock circuit work? will the "on" time be long enough to open/close the mirrors? or will i need a latching relay as you said .

And one more thing - i just cant figure out where the relays are in the car for the mirror? same for the 3 cars ? can any one help with this?

can some one give the what the center wire in the 3 pin door lock harness does? what is the polarity , when the signal is output from there and how? i know that it is used for modules like 415m . but i still like to know more about it ...

Thanks all...
