why does my alarm go off almost everytime it rains som what hard out. i turned my shock sensor down all the way so i dont think its that. what else can it be. its geting on my nerves casue i always have to go outside in the radin and but it in valet. please let me know

its a 2001 xterra and a crimestopper 2005fm alarm(i think thats the modle #)_

Hey carguy411, check your hood pin. It may be getting wet. This is the most common trigger that sets of during rain. If that's ok check your trunk pin.

there is no trunk pin its a truck.

how do i stop it from getting wet. y would it set it off if it dfoes get wet though????

water seeps in almost anything. You should disconnect the hood pin switch (tape it) and see if the alarm will be triggered. If this does the trick, you should relocate the pin switch.

i cant disconnect it becasuse i need it for the remote start

is there anything else i can do.

i thikn the last time i looked at it it was a little rusty.

the reason it sets when it gets wet is because water will allow it to make ground to the chassis .therfore setting the alarm.the water is a ground path.the best solition is to relocate the pin in my opinion.

can i use a mercury switch on my hood.

or will this give me alot of false alarms?

did you get the l.e.d. flash code from the alarm ? this # of flashes will indicate from the manual which zone was triggered and you can now verify if it is really the hood pin....

mercury switch is good because it does not corode but verry sensitive and may cause false alarms.

Relocate the pin switch, we fit all our alarm pin hood switches to a 'L' bracket mounted onto the vehicles firewall. Advantages are: it won't get rain wet, a thief can not slide a ruler or credit card in to hold it down while popping the catch, cable run is usually alot shorter and tidier, firewall grommets are usually close by and unless you are submerging the vehicle in large amounts of water-it won't rust.

We are often replacing mercury switches (as factory fitted to some Euros' over here) with pin switches- a lot better security.
