i'm obviousely a newb and so i have this question. where am i to locate my stock receiver in the car?  i dropped down my glove box and found several small boxes. none have 12 or so wires going to them, mostly only six.  also i found wirering diagrams on this site but they do not include things like my trunk release.  where do i find another diamgram?

Just leave all the stock stuff alone, you shouldn't have to remove anything.. BTW what is the model of your 98 olds??

it's 1990 oldsmobile 98 touring sedan. i need to remove the stock set up so that i can put in the new one using the same wires.

dont remove anything, just tap into the existing wires.  as for the trunk release and other stuff, just go to the location of the switch or button and test the wires with a meter

you can use the guide on this site to help you find the parking light, headlight, horn trigger, door lock and unlock, starter wire(for a starter kill), and constant 12 to power the unit.  only thing left would be the trunk release, which like i said you can find at the button in the car.  a hood pin you can install yourself if you felt like you needed one for extra security.  you could be halfway done with the install before you find the factory keyless unit and confirm what all the wires are for.
