I have a two part question, on a 2002 honda civic. The alarm / rs unit i'm installing has a feature that when u remote start car, rear defrost will come on. I've located the rear defrost switch wire, tested it, hooked up just like directions say (using relay), but the button light doesn't come on. When i tested the wire, with the car off, it reads 0.00 on the meter, with the car started it reads 12. 86 v and then when i turn on the rear defrost button, it reads 36. ? Is this wire positive or negitive ?
Another feature is a programmable aux output. You can program the output up to a 10 sec pulse (for window roll up). My diagram for the window wires have specific wires for each window ( LF, RF .... up , down) but they all say (A) polarity, the picture diagram i have shows a ( + ) on the up and down wires. Does this mean they are both positive ?
Also, can i hook up the drivers side and passenger side up on the same lead using diodes ??

both wires are for the up and down on your LF LR RF RR are all positive 12 when button is pushed. You need to find the wire that your diagram says to use and basically cut the wire in two---run the two wires from the WRM to the cut wire and 1 wire to one side and the other to the other side. test it, and if it goes up--you got it--if not---simply switch the position of the two wires and it should go up...Good luck.
For the rear defroster...36 Volts!??
Take a multimeter and select DC Voltage and put the positive lead to the power lead of the defroster.....and negative lead to chassis--ground. the meter should have a reading...if it has a - sign next to the reading....it's negative.
Just from my experience.....not a pro...just an enthusiast.....

I typed that last number incorrectly, it should be: when car is off, it reads 0, when car is on it reads 12v and when i hit the defrost button it reads 33.0 mV
what is mV ?
