hey guys.  I have a 1999 Acura TL and the problem is with my dome light and the RSX 3.5 clifford alarm does not trigger if a door is opened.

I have had my alarm for almost a year and everything has been great.  This all occured after I think I accidently bridged two wire connections.  I saw a small spark right after it.  So I'm not sure what I messed up.  I checked the car fuses and the alarm fuses(including brain, relays for locks, etc), nothing appears to be burnt.  I also checked the door pins, and grounded all of them.  They worked fine.  I was trying to tap my  'Rearm after remote start shuts off wire'  to the 'door trigger wire' , when I think I accidently touched it with the wire right next to it- wire # 2(look below).  The wire harness was a 4 wire green plug harness right beside the fusebox on the passenger side.  I know for sure theres these wires are on that harness:
1) Parking Lights wire (+)
2) ___________ (don't know what it is)
3) Door trigger wire (-)
4) ___________ (don't know what it is)
*The weird thing after possibly bridging those 2 wires(caused a spark)  was that whenever I armed the car, my rsx 3.5 2 way would indicate my door is opened (meaning it will be then bypassed).  After Arming and disarming like 5-6 times and starting the car was that the door indicator on my 2 way RSX 3.5 stopped blinking when the door was opened after arming.  So now my alarm doesn't go off when I open the door.

These still function normal.  My gauge cluster shows a picture of the door if the door is open.  The courtesy light on the door also comes on when I open the door.  I apologize for making such a long post.  Just trying to explain in detail what happened to fix this problem.  Thank you in advance to anyone that can help me.

The info i have says that the parking lights and the door trigger should be in different locations, both on pass side but seperate. I would make sure I have the right wires.

if your indicator light still comes on i would imagine that you did not cause a problem in that circuit, so i would look for something else.

Sorry, by the way.  My dome light does not come on when I open any of the doors when the light is set to 'door'.  The domelight comes on if I set the light switch to "on"  so somethings not detecting the door.

The wiring diagram that I had for the alarm install a year ago was from DirectWire.  That one harness with 4 wires is where I originally installed the alarm having the 'door trigger wire' and the 'parking lights wire(+) hooked up.

Can you tell me which indicator light you are talking about?  I notice my alarm does not go off when I open the doors now, along with my domelight not working in the 'door' switch mode.  The domelight works in the 'on' position.  I also try leaving my car door open and then Arming my alarm to see if it bypasses and shows the door indicator on my 2 way, but it doesn't show up.  By the way, Thanks for taking a second to help me out.

the info i have is a BLACK/ white near pass fuse box for the door trigger

and RED / black in pass kick of parking lights

Sorry, i gathered from what you wrote that all systems worked just fine, just not the alarm. Sounds like you burnt something and I would start off by trying to find out what that other wire goes to that you touched together, if i had to make a guess I would say it has something to do with that wire. Reson being most grounds do not have breakers or fuses, so you may have hit a positive wire to that neg door trigger and that was your spark. have you checked both fuse boxes ?

Your 2 wire colors are the same as what I have.  Yea, the alarm works fine, just doesn't detect when the door is ajar.  I'm in the process of trying to find out what the other wire was.  I've checked the drivers and passengers fuses and also under the hood.  I am going to double check again tomorrow to make sure.  It's almost 1:00AM and its like 30 degrees outside. Otherwise I would still be out there, this thing is still running through my mind.  A question for you, say I hit/bridged a positive wire with the negative door trigger.  Would that cause a malfunction for both wires?  Because of me bridging those 2 wires by accident, whatever is at the end of the positive wire and the negative wire.   Which one do you think it would have burnt or maybe both?  I just hope I didn't mess up any modules or anything under the dash.

Another thing I was pondering was, even though the domelight works in the 'on' position.  Could the domelight itself be defective and that might cause the 'door' mode not to work?  Thanks alot for your help thus far!

I think burning both is possible but I would lean more towards the other wire... heres one for you.... how hard is it to take down that dome light... test for continuity between the trigger wire up there and the door trigger wire... if you do then your trigger wire should be fine (test for resistance... ohms) if its low then you have a complete circuit and if its high then its open. But that 2nd wire maybe tied to a module or something.

it may cause the door mood to not work ! i have had cars that if you tied off the door trigger and the switch for the domelight was set to off, the alarm would not go off when the door was opened.

Thanks daze, first thing in the morning I am going to take down the domelight, test continuity between the trigger wire at the dome light and the door trigger wire the and go from there.  Thanks again for your help.

Anyone?  I'm still stuck with this problem on my Acura TL 1999.  My alarm doesn't go off while Armed when I open the doors, I find out I am not getting ground on the Car's door trigger wire.  My car's domelight while set to 'door' doesn't come on either.  All my lights, courtesy, trunk, visor, glovebox, gauge cluster works fine, accesories, etc.
I have checked all my fuses (drivers, passenger, underhood, alarm fuses). The fuses are fine.  I checked all my 4 door pins, cleaned and tightened the 1 wire connection. They are also fine.  I took the overhead domelight fixture down and made sure the fixture was fine.  I tested the 'door' switch mode on the domelight and its fine.  *There is just NO GROUND coming from the car's door trigger wire.  I can't figure out why.  I bridged the 'door trigger wire (-)' with a (+) wire (which I believe is connected to all the courtesy, glovebox, trunk) by accident and it caused a spark.  These two wires I bridged was apart of a 4 wire harness on the fusebox (theres a Multiplex unit mounted together with the fuse box on the backside), which is all connected into a Multiplex unit.
So I have come to a possible conclusion that my passenger multiplex unit's door trigger wire burned( if thats even possible).  If thats not possible, could a diode or relay have went back along those connections?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

WHen I say the door trigger wire being burned, I mean that maybe the internal door trigger wire within the Multiplex unit is bad.  multiplex unit replacement of a $130.  If thats not possible, could a diode or relay have went back along those connections?   I do not notice any other thing malfunction.  All lights and everything else works like wonders.

Domelight does not work while switched to 'door', but works when set to 'on'

Hey guys, just wondering if any one of you have experienced your domelight not working while switched in the 'door' position when you open your door or disarm your alarm. By the way it works fine in the 'on' position. So the bulb is fine.
     A N Y ONE ???
*I have checked all my fuses (hood, driver side, and passenger side) and nothing is burnt. All the courtesy lights on the doors work fine when the doors are open. The door open indicator in the guage/odometer cluster is also fine. I have not noticed anything else malfunctioning. If you guys have any ideas at all, feel free to post. Thanks!

Hey i had the same problem with my dome light, i still cannot get it to come on when my doors open. I have a compustar alarm system installed in my 99 TL and instead of monitoring on just the dome light i skipped that and just used the actuall door grounds. because the lights on my doors still work which means that it still detects a door is open and it works fine. i also have 12v footwell lighting that comes on when a door is open so it works great.
