Ok, I just got my viper 791 installed on my 2001 Honda Accord. Now it's a 5 spd tranny so of course Best Buy wouldn't installed the RS feature (where I bought and had the alarm installed). Now I know nothing about electrial stuff about my car, and that said, wires just make my head hurt. I've installed my head unit, subs, and amp and that was simple enough for me. Now it's time to move on to bigger and better things, Remote start.
I need to know which modules I need and exactly how much trouble this will be to install with a good installation guide. Speaking of which, anyone have a link to an installation guide on a 01 accord? Anyhow, as far as modules are concerned, i've looked around and called, and there is a 555H and a 555U. Do I need both of these? One is for hondas and the other is universal. To me that means the 555U is for any car and is not need with the 555H. Please correct me if i'm wrong. Say I buy the 555H, am I ready to install the remote start or is there anything else I need? I read something about the 668M module but it's only released in Canada or something?
Now for the disclaimer:
I'm aware of the potential dangers of installing remote start on a manual transmission. I've read all the posts concerning this. I always leave my car in neutral with the emergency brake applied. I've not once left it in gear. If someone else drives my car, I would of course neglect using remote start because of not knowing if the car is in gear or not.
All the help I can get on this would be greatly appreciated.
