i installed a remote starter on a 04 suburban. it will crank over with the remote starter but the engine will not run. i installed the passlock 2 bypass system. im pretty sure i wired it correctly. could the wrong wire for the tach signal being hooked up cause this symptom? what effect exactly does the tach wire have on the remote start system? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would say that depending on the bypass that you used, its either hooked up wrong or not programmed properly.

Or the Starter kill anti gring wiring is backwards.....

what kind of components brand and models did you install

i installed a python remote start/alarm and a dei 555L bypass module. sure every wire is right except i wasn't quite sure on the tach wire. i had a couple of diagrams that said you could use a wire from the injectors that wasn't pink or one that was a different color but both the injector wires measure 12 volts or more any time the ignition is on even if the vehicle isn't running. isn't the tach wire only supposed to send a signal when the engines running? also isn't it supposed to be ac voltage? i think this may be the problem but not quite sure. would having the wrong tach wire cause this problem? (engine cranks but won't start).

It sounds to me like the bypass isn't right. The yellow from the bypass should be to the cut keyside of the yellow resistance wire in the truck, the black / YELLOW from the bypass should be to the cut car side of the yellow resistance wire. The black ground reference wire should be tapped to the ground reference wire in the truck, most likely orange or black. I take the steering column shroud completely off to conect these wires right under the ignition switch. remember to solder these wires so they see a true resistance. After checking to make sure that those three wires are correct make sure you are getting a good constant 12volts and good ignition to the bypass module. After that is done check to make sure that the blue status output from the alarm is connected to the bypass module. Then insert a key in to the ignition and start the truck once the factory security light goes out the key resistance is learned turn the truck off and try to remote start.
