I need some help w/ an Omega RS-4LX remote start system. I installed it into my 2003 S-10 PU and it cranks but won't start. I don't have an installation guide or owner's manual for this unit. So I don't know if I need another component to bypass the passlock? Or if the module is capable of performing such a task and I haven't wired it correctly? Any info would be appreciated. I forgot to add that I'm using my keyless entry to activate the remote start system by hitting lock twice and then it cranks but no start. Thanks.

You need to buy a seperate module to bypass the passlock two system when you use the remote start. DEI makes an excelent model called a 555L

Thanks for the advice I will do that. The frustrating thing for me is that I'm a shop foreman at a Chevrolet dealership and I have over 15yrs in fixing cars. I have my Masters and my L1 Advanced certification but these remote start systems being my 2nd install can be quite tricky. My hats off to you guys who put these in all day long. Thanks again for the information if I can ever hook you up with some info just let me know I have wiring diagrams for any car out there.

you may also want to look for a GMBP bypass module... they work slick as s**t.... reads the R-code off Class II at the OBD connector.... 4 wires to hook up..... we use the the 555L as well but my first choice now is the GMBP

I actually saw the vehicle I swapped the remote starter out of to put into mine and I saw where they had put a resistor into the wiring for the passlock at the column. They tapped into the ORANGE / black wire and they also had tapped into the yellow wire. I was pretty shocked at how simple an idea and it worked. I don't know how they wired it. So that little trick I'm unaware of or how to wire it up correctly. So the GMBP is the drug of choice for this setup. Can I find these on like EBAY or should I go to a certain website? Like I said earlier I can fix any car but these add on systems are a little frustrating trying to manipulate them to do what you need them to do. Especially without the install guides.....lol! That'll learn me. Thanks.

I just installed a remote start unit in my 2003 S10 Pickup.
Please let me know if you have any problems. This stuff is still fresh in my mind. I did want to let you know that I bypassed the Passlock II system with a 2-relay scheme, 1 diode, and a 10 turn mini potentiometer set at 890 ohms. The scheme worked flawless. Each Passlock system has a different resistance value. Thats the security feature. Let me know if you need to take a resistance measurement to determine your vehicles resistance value.
Also make sure you have all the required separate ignition systems accounted for when the system is put into the auto start mode. If you don't your going to get the "Check Engine Light" immediately after starting has commenced.
Take care. Ray..........
