Ok, here's the thing, I've been poking around on the forums reading as much as I can about my truck, and have learned everything I need to know (I think) about installing a remote starter on the car. The only question I have is this, I read that my truck has PASSLOCK II on it and needs to be bypassed, the question is, what do I buy to bypass it, and where can I buy this at? Any help is appreciated, Thanks, Brandon

What "brand" of remote start are ya gonna put in...... ? LOTS of the guys on the12volt.com are using the least exspensive equipment they can find......... Like something off of E-bay. Don't do that, your just asking for problems. If your gonna do the job yourself, do some research. Talk to a local retailer, get a NAME BRAND Don't buy crap. Passlock II is not that big of a deal. Use a good digital meter and take your time. -------------

On the driver's side of the motor, follow the large harness from the fender to the motor. Just above the Valve cover, it breaks away to the right to a 10 or 12 pin plug... this is for the 4 coilpacks on that side of the motor.... use the violet, light blue, or green wire in that plug. ( I use the violet, works like a charm). You may also find tach in the instrument cluster plug, it's the white wire.
The bypass you will need will be one of the following:
Viper 555L or 555LW (preferred.... bulletproof)
Automobility PLXR (PITA to program)
PL2003, or PL2004 (love these.... wish I could still get them)
Relatively painless remote starter to do.... lots of room to work with.

555L or GMBP... both work great and are easy to install.... i always grab the white tach wire behind the cluster....

Ok, one more thing and I'll have it. It wants a negative input for a hood latch. What is this, and where can I find it in my truck?
