I am trying to install a viper 500esp in my 2002 celica with a manual transmission.  I know how to make a safety switch to make sure that the car is in neutral and that it will only start with the ebrake on also but what i don't know is why the remote start isn't working.  I left the safety precautions un hooked and just tried to start the car in neutral but the lights blinked and the airbag light came on then went off when i disconnected the remote starter relay.  Can anyone help me with this problem.

Thanks Nick

Check the options that you did not connect. Some require that it see ground in order for the remote start to engage. In your manual for the 500esp it will tell you under each wire if it needs to see ground or not. Hope this helps. Post your results.

  • make sure all doors and hood are closed
  • make sure that the tach is good
  • make sure that the unit is programmed properly

How did you make a switch so that you cant' autostart without ebrake on and out of gear?  I am trying to do the same thing for a Toyota Tacoma.  If anyone has suggestions on how to do so Please let me know here or email me at mario_thames@yahoo.com

make sure you didn't hook up the starter wire before the starter kill relay. Make sure you have the correct ignitions. Toyotas carry 2 ignition wires
