Ok, so I installed a bulldog 1200E remote start on my Volvo S80 with a PASS4 module.  When trying to start it the engine won't crank over.  If I stick my key in the ignition it will crank for a few seconds then stop.  I have moved the key in the module around and also the antenna on the ignition switch around.  DOn't really know what else to do.  Any suggestions appreciated.

Did you program the tach wire to the system already ?

I installed it for tachless mode also.

Use the tach mode and wire up the tach input wire to any injector wire that is uncommon in color.

Alright, I'll give that a shot next.

Shouldn't the system at least try and crank if everything is working properly though?  I don't understand why it will not even attempt to crank over until I stick my key in the ignition.  This is the first time working on something other than a stereo so I am a noob.

Did you wire up the YELLOW (+) keysense wire ? If this wire doesn't see (+) during remote start, your Volvo won't even start.

No, I sure didn't.  I see the wire listed under a separate wiring chart I got with this system, and that its in the ignition harness, but in the install manual I don't even see it mentioned.  It does mention a factory alarm shutdown wire.  So what wire should the keysense connect with?  Thanks for the help btw.

"FACTORY ALARM SHUT DOWN WIRE (FASD) (-)    If your vehicle is equipped with a factory alarm system (as most new model vehicles with a factory keyless entry are) and you can disarm your factory alarm by using your key in the door. Check the owner’s manual or contact your dealer to see if your vehicle is so equipped. Probe for a small gauge wire (usually found in the driver’s side kick panel) that shows (-) ground and the GREEN light will glow bright when the door lock cylinder is turned to the unlock position using the key and will show +12V and the RED light will glow bright turning the key. NOTE: Some factory disarm wires remain neutral (both the GREEN and the RED lights will be dimly illuminated) before you turn the key to unlock instead of +12v positive. Connect the RED WITH BLACK STRIPE wire from the 16-pin harness to this wire."

The OEM alarm disarms with remote start as long as the YELLOW wire see's 12 volts or if the car is unlocked prior to remote start.

Well, that's not the problem then.  The doors have been unlocked everytime I have tried to start it.  The only other thing I can think of that may have dumbfounded me for a bit on installation were the ignition wires.  On both wiring charts the 2000 S80 was suppose to have a RED / blue for ignition 1, and yellow for ignition 2.  Wiring it up though there where 2 RED / blue wires that show 12V in run and crank only, so I used those.  I had no clue which one should have been 1 or 2.  Not sure if that matters or not, but it's the only thing that wasn't straight forward on the install.

The ignition wire is BLUE/RED not RED / BLUE & you still have to power up the YELLOW wire with a (+) for the keysense wire to acknowledge that there is a key in the ignition. The doors unlocking for remote start will disarm the OEM alarm.

Yes, I meant I have two blue/red ones.  So, I just run a constant +12V source to the yellow keysense wire? I am guessing since there were two other yellow wires in the ignition harness the key sense will show +12V upon sticking my key in the ignition?

I hope you have a DMM or at least a light tester. NEVER just run a constant wire to another wire in hopes that the information that we give you here is correct. In most cases we have what we give you from personal experience or from what other installer's have received from the companies that sell us the remote start products. It's the responsibility of the installer to ensure proper polarity with a DMM to ensure no damage is done to their vehicle.

I just wanted to make sure that you understand that the information that I give you is from wiring information from the net and my supplier's, & I am in no way gauaranteeing the accuracy of this information. Please use a tester to ensure that the wire that your connecting to is right before placing a live wire to it.

To answer your question, " YES " the target yellow wire should have 12 volts on it when you insert the key into the ignition.

Yeah, I have been using light tester.  It's my fiance's car so I am tryin to gather all the info I can before trying something not listed in the install manual.

Does it matter which ignition wire is run as ignition#1 and ignition#2?  Like I said before I have two identical colored blue/red wires that test the same, and I have no idea how to tell #1 from #2.
