Compustar 2WFMR Cranks, Stalls?

A friend of mine has a Compustar 2WFMR that he had installed as an alarm system with keyless entry in a 2000 Plymouth Voyager.  When he presses the II button, the car cranks, runs for about 2 seconds, then stalls.  It makes two additional attempts to start, each time doing the same thing.  He was told by the installer that he didn't pay for the remote start function, and that it would need "something else" in order to enable that feature.

What surprises me is that the car cranks at all.  Why would someone go to the trouble of hooking up the starter wires if the customer didn't request remote starting?  (He wants it now).  

But my main question is: what is needed to enable remote starting on this car?  Does it need tach programming?  Also, I have only the user manual; can anyone provide me with the installation manual?

well the ign would have to be hooked up since you need it to program the remotes.

I Am thinking, you still need to hook up the accessory wire, White on the compustar, to the blk Orange and your van might be a 01, which needs the 2nd starter to be hooked up using a resistor and negative trigger. is it the new style dodge caravan ?

I have not yet looked at any of the wiring.  So far, I just observed that the car cranks and starts, but stalls after a couple of seconds.  Looks to me like a tach related symptom, but I can't say for sure.  The fact that it starts would seem to indicate that the ignition wiring is done.  Any other ideas?  The van is a 2000 Voyager, not sure how to tell if it's a new style.

Am I understanding you correctly - are these connections made for the alarm functions; that is, can I assume that they are already made?

Only the user manuals are available online.  Has anybody got an installation/programming manual they care to fax or e-mail? 

Also, does the symptom I described sound like it could be the result of a missing transponder bypass?  That would make the most sense to me since my friend was told he'd have to pay extra to enable the remote start feature.  I have only done a couple dozen remote start installs in my time, but never saw a car actually run when not bypassed.  I have seen them a) Not crank at all or b) Crank, but not start.  Then again, I have never installed on this particular model car.

Thanks for the information.  I hooked up the tach & the unit worked without the need to do any tach learning.  I also added a hood pinswitch & connected the brake switch, too.  The accessory (white) wire from CN1 was not hooked up, so I connected that to enable the heat/AC.  My friend is a happy guy!
