Hey guys/gals!

I recently got a Nordic Start 2000 installed by Future Shop in my 2003 Silverado, along with the DEI security bypass module, and doorlocks module. Now, the starter we working awesome for about the first 2 weeks and now I am having the following problems:

- Some mornings, I press the remote to start the truck and the system wont even respond to my signal. Now I am able to lock and unlock my doors with the remote, but not starting. I also went out to my truck and looked for the security light on my dash when I press the start button, and it doesnt even blink or anything.

- It only seems like this happens when I dont use my truck for a day or so, or when we have a cold night. Also, when I start my truck normally and drive a distance, it almost seems like the system is learning my resistance again, and it works for the rest or the day/next day. (Wierd eh?? - Almost like the system is forgetting my resistance, and then I have to teach it again)

Anyhow guys, please email me back your thoughts on this!

Cheers!

Bring it back to Future Shop and get the installer's to recheck the system for the Passlock bypass. Don't try to do anything to remedy the problem otherwise it will void any type of warranty that you might have on the installation. The first thing I would do is place a relay on the ground out when running wire to ensure a proper ground on this wire to activate the Passlock system from the remote starter.

Thanks alot for your help man! I will be taking it back there fore sure! Could the Nordic Start unit be screwed up too?? (Also, how does the variable resistance work??? Can cold weather throw it off and bugger up my system, forcing me to teach the code again, and again???????)

Cheers! :)

The code is stored on a board that is not supposed to be temperature sensitive like the resistor type systems of the past. The unit that you have is most likely a databus interface module and the only thing that would really give you problems is insufficient ground on the status output wire or a bad ground on the unit itself. I didn't do the install so there could be many other possibilities as well. Some easy , some more difficult to diagnose. Like I said before, just bring it back and they should be able to take a look at it and figure something out for you.
