We just started using these bypass modules recently, and of course I did one x-mas eve (so no tech line was avalible). Anyway , in the destructions for this module it did not list a 98 explorer only 99 and up. Its a PATS system and I need to find the TX/RX wires , I have the IGN and ground, but the PKF-1 won't program when the key is turned. According to them, connect the unit, turn the key and the theft light and LED on the bypass will go out at the same time (they don't). I tried switching around the 2 wires that might be the TX/RX lines for the PATS and still no luck. Is this unit compatable? In the past I've always used an inductive ring on the key cylinder. BTW the wires are as follows. (pins 1 - 4 on the PATS connector) rd/blk, brn/org, purp/blu, brn/wht any help would be greatly appreciated. and the RS works great with a key in the ign...

Thanks guys, and happy holidays!

Hymer

According to bypasskits the PKF-1 will not work for the 1998 system only thw 1999+ systems you will need to use a universal type for the 1998 Explorer

Damn, thats what I thought I would hear their website was not much help on Fri... anyway I need to call them tommorow to find out for sure... but I'm sure your correct... BTW does anyone have the programing info (other than the instructions that come with these modules)Like how to reset the programing on a GMDLBP I manage to do it but it seems to take forever... any extra info would be great on these. Like I said we just started using them and i have had some trouble with their tech support. (not just the PKF-1 )

thanks a million guys..

I just unplug the module and reprogram it and it works to delete anything in memory.
