This is my second post (I think). I have a 94 Mustang with an audiovox pro 9842b alarm (professionally installed). I have wired my neon underbody kit to my parking lights successfully with no relay (once I get more time I will install one) and now I have purchased a headlight strobe kit from Optx. My goal was to wire them up so they only strobe when my alarm is triggered (separate from parking lites—don’t wanna get pulled over b/c of flashing strobes). If I could afford to, I would purchase the Whelen Police Strobes like this:
https://www.spdkilz.com/z06dusk.html (I am not that rich…so I decided to go a little bit cheaper!)
Now to my problem: I thought I could tap into the siren using a relay so when the siren goes off it would trigger the relay to turn on the strobes. I was successful but the problem now is that my siren only “chirps” sometimes. Once I removed everything the siren works properly. I had the relay and strobes grounded to the neg terminal of my battery (since everything was close to the it).
This is the setup of my relay:
87->12v constant w/ inline fuse
86->wire tapped from siren
85->ground
30->pos wire from strobes
Am I doing something wrong? Or is there another way to do this? I've seen the strobes @ nite and it looks great…but now I want to put them to use. And I think my neighbors are going to kill me if my alarm goes off 1 more time…I would love to try to finish this project!
thanx in advance

your 12 volt output from the alarm to 86 on both relays
85 of both to ground
30 of both to fused 12 volts
87-of one relay to the strobe pack and 87 of the other one to the siren.

thanx for the help, though i am a little confused on where to find a 12 volt output from my alarm?
also, would i have to add another relay if i wanted to wire another set of strobes to my tail lights?
thanks once again
your siren out put should be 12 volts....add a relay for item that you will run off the siren wire....just dont go over board
