Wanted to know if anybody knew of any kind of rain sensor that I could use to hook up to my alarm so that when it starts raining it will roll up my windows.  I have a Viper 791XV with both the 530t and 529t window modules.  I've been searching online for a week and can't find anything.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

never heard of such a thing but then again do you think its even possible?  theres no way it could detect the humidity before its already started raining so your vehicle would get a lil wet inside before the windows roll up.  i suggest hook your rollup module to the ground when armed output, that way when you set the alarm....up go the windows

I PREFER TO HOOK UP WINDOW ROLL UP MODULES TO A SEPERATE AUXILLARY CHANNEL BECAUSE WHAT IF IT'S A WARM DAY AND YOU DON'T WANT THE WINDOWS ROLLED UP OR YOU ARE COMIN RIGHT BACK BUT DONT WANT THEM UP. IF U HOOK THEM UP TO A SEPERATE CHANNEL YOU CAN THE OPTION OF ROLLING THEM UP WHEN YOU WANT TO

On most, if not all Viper alarm installs, the window modules are connected to the "ground when armed" wire.  In turn, the alarm will roll up the windows every time I arm the car.  But also, I have the door windows set to channel two and the sunroof set to channel 4.  I can roll the windows up or down independently.  If I don't want the windows to roll up when I arm the car, all I have to do is hit the channel two button before I arm the car, that then sends a signal to the roll up modules to not roll up when the car is armed.

And about the rain sensor.  There is a company out there that makes a rain sensor to be used for your wipers.  It will automatically turn on your wipers when it starts to rain and even adjust the speed of the wipers depending on how hard it is raining.   It uses a sensor mounted just behind the rear view mirror and uses infrared beams to detect rain on the windshield.  I'm not sure if I could use that same sensor and hook it up to a relay for the windows because I believe that rain sensor hooks into a controller that has a microprocessor in it.  Plus, that system is $150!  I really don't want to spend that kind of money.  I was hoping someone out there knew of another idea.  I thought about creating my own, but would first like to see if there's already one out there.

You might be able to use this.

https://www.firstdetection.com/waterbug/200/index.html
The model WB-200 operates on 12 or 24 Volt AC/DC and has a form C relay output that can be connected to alarm panels, bells, dialers, etc

There are car rain sensors but it mainly for wipers like someone posted earlier ..

Such as https://www.raintracker.com/

Which use some kind of eye to detect the rain hitting the windshield and speed up the wipers as more rain is detect hitting the windshield .. Sensor is actually placed inside the windshield I believe ..

The easiest homemade rain sensor is to take 2 copper and put it close to each other that when a water drop touches it and close a circuit to a relay switch  which in turn could operate your Windows   but remember one thing ..  You will need to made it so the water will still run off the sensor  and not stay on it .. and with raining dripping on the sensor  it will be like pressing remote button repeatly to your power windows module .. now it may not hurt anything but again it may shorten the life of the relays inside the power windows module if it not a soild state modules .. so you would need to add some circuit to disable then reenable the sensor let say oh every 10 minute once it detect a closed circuit  on it ..

I am sure you can find some type of water sensor but those type of water sensor is used to detect a large body of water not water dripping on it .. Automatic sprinkler system use rain sensor however they require 24 volts to operate and is kinda too big in size that it would stick out like a sore thumb on a car ..

But yes you could ideally add a rain sensor to roll up the windows ..

I have all 4 windows up and down which is connect to the ground and the aux channel of my system/remote also I installed a disable switch which disable the windows roll up during arming the sytem feature that I can toggle during the summer when I want to arm my truck but don't want the windows to roll up however I still could roll it up or down  via aux channel on the remote  ..  My Windows module will roll down all the windows 2 inches when it get over 100 degree in the car to vent it out also ..
