My first post here.. but I've been visiting for awhile. Seem to be a lot of knowledgeable folks here! I've got an Astrostart 4204U. Its the 2 way/4 button remote. The runtime is currently less than 10 minutes. In the manual, it says to set the runtime - Press RUN and LOCK at the same time.. parking lights will flash 1-4 times to indicate setting. Okay. Two paragraphs above that, directions are given on how to set the Low Temp Mode... press RUN and LOCK at the same time. Parking lights will flash 2 or 4 times to indicate setting. If I press said combination of buttons, it activates or cancels the Low Temp Mode.. it makes no impact on the runtime. I can only assume those directions apply to the 5 & 6 button remotes... not the 4 button system. (manual isn't too clear) Now I've searched around on here and caught some posts mentioning dip switches. By flipping certain switches, pressing the brake pedal and spinning in a circle, runtime would be changed. Am I supposed to set the runtime by these dipswitches? I guess I haven't actually pulled the 'brain' down to see what things are set at, so I'm not too clear on the whole situation. If thats correct, what is the procedure for doing so?

if it does have dipswitches all you have to do is know which switch controls the run time and turn it on or off for the desired time.

Adjusting runtime in leval 12 with the dip switches. 3 4 8 in the UP. Hit the brake 1 time......LED will flash several times, when its done flashing put all dips in the DOWN pososition. Hit the brake 1 time. DONE You dont need the key in the ignition. -------------

Seems easy enough... how do I know what the runtime will be set at then?

The programable runtimes (done during installation) are 2, 4, 8, or 18 min. The default is (was) 8 min. Based on what I see from the user manuel, you CANNOT adjust runtime from the transmitter, like the non- 2 way models. -------------

Yeah I assumed I am unable to set the runtime from the remote. But these dipswitches I have been reading about.. they are on the module itself? Or do these units require an outside programmer to be hooked up to it? An 8 minute runtime sounds like what I have now... but hardly makes sense in the 20 below tundra.

3,4,and 8 up.. this will give you 18 mn runtime, hit the brake and then all switches down.. They are on the module itself next to the LED The LED will blink 12 times after you set your runtime to confirm the programming change... Good luck...
