either you missed tagging the white wire. for 2nd ign or they are "lighting" up in the wrong order

is the check engine light on when you remote start it?

i missed an ignition wire when i did my first S-10. stupid Omega (internet was down that day) labels the "Accessory" wire (orange, I think) as the "2nd ignition". so I wasn't "lighting" the 2nd ignition wire at all.

ok on my s10 i had to probe for the pink/white wire. it was the only wire to have 12 volts in the run and start of the switch. so what i need to change about it??

All 3 wires in the above post need to be powered up.

i got it wired like that but the pink/white wire is not there. the one i used is red with a white stripe. the only pink one it to ignition 1 and i used the red with white stripe to ignition 2. the check engine comes on when i start with remote. anyone else have a 96 that can tell me how they wired theres being they didnt have a pink and white one or just a plain white one.

If it remote starts you have the right start wire. But you should have 2 ign wires and a acc wire. If these three wires are not powered up you will have problems. I did a 2002 S10 last week and the wiring was the same as the wiring at this link.

man i dont know what my problem is. only thing i see is that i used a red with white stripe instead of the pink and white. i dont have a pink and white stripe or a white one. it remote starts fine just the transmission shifts funny.

keep looking man.. im almost positive there should be a pink/white or white wire areound somewhere.. it might be a smaller gauge wire but that RED / white wire is NOT correct... im pretty sure thats a 2nd accesory that powers ur radio.. when u remote start does ur radio come on? if it does thats not the right wire!

you need to find a white wire in there...it might be thinner than the other wires, but it's there. that's the one you need to hit. that's why you get that funny shifting and *service engine soon* light. this is a common symptom of not having the 2nd ignition wire powered.

your radio doesn't come on with remote start, does it (that would mean you have the 2nd acc (brown) hooked up and it doesn't need to be powered)

disconnect that red w/ white wire and fine the propper white wire...i'm pretty sure the white wire for the brake also runs up there...it's a thin guage as well. but you need to test for the propper 2nd ignition wire that shows 12volts when the key is switched on.

i used a purple wire for starter and it was a big wire. so the white wire on a 96 is small?? or white and pink.
