Are these "master keys" still a threat even with all the codehopping/code changing/code what have you prevalent on modern alarm systems?

They never really were a threat. If someone wanted to though, it is possible to clone code hopping remotes.

thats why i use the k9 atvs( automatic transmitter verification) it tells you how many remotes are programmed to disarm your alarm every time you turn the key.
