I install alot of alarms and remote starters on the side. I am not a dealer and for this reason it is hard for me to pull good wiring information (tech sheets). I am most gratefull to the people of 12 volt to help me any chance they get. I was wondering is there something (CD) you can purchase or a website you can sign up for to get a good trustworthy tech sheet. Everything that I come across seems to be a "Dealer only" and I respect that, I am looking to purchase a disk or perhaps a membership to a website.

Thanks

I also agree with the OP.. I have been looking for a while now.. Everything is DEALER only.. That's total crap! They could make more money selling it to people who don't just install their product. One that is really sweet is AstroChart (made by AstoStart - www.astroflex.com). It has some freaking sweet pictures of where the wires are and everything. I wish they sold it to non-"dealers" but they don't.

Installogy looks sweet but $300 per year is a little steap.

Do you have any idea what these companies pay to research vehicles every year? That money is made back when their dealers buy product off them. If you think $300 a year is high, you should check out what my company has to pay to keep our Point Of Sale (TSS software) software and vehicle audio database (MAID) up-to-date. Maybe if the companies could set up a way you could Paypal them $2 everytime you look up a techsheet, it might be worth it to them. Giving it away free would just overload their web servers from freeloaders when their customers (dealers) are trying to get information they need. You should try seeing how slow DEI's website can get mid-day in the middle of remote start season.

I never said to give it away free. I would pay $10 for a very detailed diagram with pictures everytime I did a remote start. Maybe someone will think of that!

The crimestopper modules give you 3  free vehicle lookups- with every R/S - they give you the password and ID for the website, and you can plug in the serial No. of your unit 3 times for 3 different vehicles- - includes graphics of wiring detail- such as 2nd ignition, door lock relays etc-- and it has pictures of where to find the wires on the car- in their latest lookups--  as was mentioned above-   I have been satisfied with them and have found little or no mistakes or confusion- just sometimes a better way for my own preference- of which I put in my files, for when I do the same type of car next time.........

IrishDoc, that looks interesting.. Would you be willing to provide some screenshots of the software? Does it include detailed pictures or is it just a diagram (text).. I'd definately be willing to shell out $20 if it was good.

The website is in the warranty folder I think- Heck its been 3 yrs I 've been using it- have it bookmarked-here it is

https://www.installogy.com/SNP/SNPDealerLogin.asp?manufacturer=crimestopper

You have to have an ID and Password supplied by your dealer you buy the kits from- I have used the same dealer for 4 or 5 yrs- and he gave it to me a long time ago- works great

that made it seems like youre installing as an individual that needs "diagrams for dummies" ,rather than a professional installer that works at a shop. although installogy has pictures and chits, thats the most detail ive seen. DEI's schematics, are found everywhere on this board if youre to search, are detail already. sometime comom sense have to kick in and for the most part, experience (maybe a lil trial and error).

You ask your dealer- the guy you bought it from- I buy everything I install on the internet- all modules, all remote starters, all diodes, all relays. etc. - And my dealer gave me the info about 5 yrs ago and I have been using it ever since.  If your dealer says he doesn't have it - go to another dealer- or ask crimestopper for your dealers ID and password.  Each dealer has his own ID and password as far I as I can tell.......good luck!!

Each new unit out of the box has a different serial number. Access the techweb and then enter in the serial number off the sticker on your unit. The User ID and pass is in the install manual I believe. You can then utilize your 3 views per serial# like Brcidd said. If you don't happen to need to access the Techweb for a particular install just jot down the serial# and use it at a later date.

As I was saying about me having a username, I paid some where under $5 and got to use it for my last car, but I ended up after getting it installed in a 1999 Pontiac grand am I then bought a 1999 Pontiac Trans am and now took it out of the Grand am and am putting it in the trans am. The serial must just be out of lookups on it.

Question on a Note for the Door unlock wires.. POWER UNLOCK       TAN and GREY/BLACK See NOTE **

NOTE ** the TAN will UNLOCK the DRIVERS DOOR and the GREY/BLACK will UNLOCK the PASSENGER DOORS both must be wired as a TYPE C with separate relays.

What exactly is this saying, I have some resisters and stuff from the other install on my 1999 grand am

The Firebird will not be like the Grand Am. No resistors will be needed as it is a completely different setup.

It means if you tie a relay into the Tan wire ONLY the driver door will unlock. If you want the passenger door to unlock you need to use 2 relays and wire as follows. https://directechs.com/techtips/pdfs/resources/security/directed_techtips/1052.pdf

Lock for both doors can be achieved with just a negative pulse from the keyless lock output to the RED / black wire.

Good Luck, Steve

Where do I get these relays or where do I connect at to just get the driver door to unlock?

Napa, Auto parts store, stereo install shop.

Omit the top relay that connects to the Gray/Black wire if you want just the driver door.

If all else fails try getting your hands on an omega book.  It's probably the next best thing.

So if I just want the driver door to unlock, just wire the unlock wire from my alarm to the gray/black wire? Does that require any relays or anything?

Date Posted: March 09, 2005 at 10:01 AM
No, you have to use a relay to unlock. Follow the diagram.

I understand now, after I went over that diagram a few times, I'll see if I can get 2 of those relays at napa today, unless those are already built into my car since it has a keyless entry system...

I installed the one relay for the driver door unlock, and now when I push the lock and when I push the unlock button on my remote It locks the passenger door and unlocks the driver door, Does anyone know why this might be?

Yeah that must be why the diagram calls for the 2 relays. Try adding the other relay and see if it works better.

I figured that's probably what the problem is, I'll get another relay today.

I got 2 relays hooked up and now It locks and unlocks correctly, but my driver door lock/unlock motor doesn't seem to be locking/unlocking.. Any help on what I might've done?
