Ok I'm about to put like 2,000-2,500 worth of value into my car for my system. I obviously am gonna worry about theft. Small town means nothing except harder to find thief for some reason. Lazy sobs. Anyways...

I am currently stretching my budgetting just to get the materials and installation. The security system is 1/2 deterrents to the process speeding up. I'm getting 2 12" kicker solos in a sealed box with a memphis belle 1300w amp into my trunk. There were a COUPLE things I was thinking since I'm not facing any "high tech" thiefs.

#1: Physical protection. A way to disable trunk opening/release without a special transmission or something like that. That leaves the only viable entrance(assuming they didn't find a way to bust in) through my back seats of my 1998 Monte Carlo. This doesn't do anything for the amp protection but I'd love to see them get the subs out. (Obv the ehad unit will be detachable for best possible protection.) Now if the trunk release disable is functionable and withstanding, moounting my amp in the trunk towards the opening would protect it from thieves, but what would be consequences. (Fully willing to lose the value of my trunk with my equipment in it.) I'd prefer all modifications to be fixable with a fair amount of time(like 2-4 hours, not 2-4 days worth). This is just an idea, until or during the time I have a security system setup. (I personally think this would work nicely, but the anger it might cause could do some interior damage I'd rather not fix and I'd prefer to catch the bastards.)

#2: What is a really good 2-way alarm system? And what am I looking at price wise? I don't think I really need to be concerned with GPS tracking or anything. Just something decent.

#3: What kinda equipment should I be looking at for a good security? Shock sensors, trunk pin, hood pin, back up battery, etc?

Master Asylum,

First and formost, if they want it they'll get it somehow. Seeing how your in a small town use your head and don't brag about your system to everyone on the planet. My friend did that and lost his gear in less than 2 weeks.

2nd- Every alarm comes with multiple sensors these days. Installation is key. If your doing it yourself make sure you check out this site further. You want to keep all the wiring looking stock. That way if someone breaks into your car it will be more difficult to see which wires to cut.

3rd- Get a good 2-way system, Viper, is my preferred brand but there are others that good as well. As far as sensors go you could get a 508d dei field disturbance. Alerts you if anyone is "too close" to your car. Wire a 2nd shock sensor for both the front and rear of the car would help too. Backup battery would be a good idea but if your always within 2-way range you will most likely know if someone is messing with your ca,

Any specific number in the viper line I would be best to look at? I was considering something through best buy(No clue how to install them myself right now.) And I do pizza delivery in company vehicle, so there are times I'm away from my vehicle. What is a good range on a 2-way? (I'd assuming like at a optimistic best of a mile) Also will any of those options be afftected by tint? (Motion sensor stuff is from what I've read so far.)
