I'm doing a remote starter (Crimestopper RS900 VII) install on a 99 Olds Intrigue tomorrow and I just had a question.. I searched the forums for any helpful info on the Intrigue and I seen a post that said the wiring was almost impossible to get to. Can anyone confirm this? Can anyone give me some tips on anything? I did a Cavalier a couple weeks ago and it sucked majorily because the kick panel / dash does not remove easily so I had to bend like a contortionist to access the wires.. Will I have to do the same for the Intrigue? Please say "No, the wires are very simple to access.. You just remove the kick panel and they are all right there.." Thanks for any help!

https://www.mobileworksaudio.com/guides/alero01radio.htm Basically you have to pull the radio out to get the ignition wiring...the above link will help you get the radio out, and from there you can unplug the two connectors at the back of the igniton switch and pull the wiring out so that you can make your connections. From there the drivers underdash is held in with a push pin style connector and it just pulls straight out...the panel above the gas pedal is held in place with 3 7mm bolts and pulls down to access the brake wire.. That should help you...Oh I think you can catch parking lights behind the heater controls....brown + trigger test carefully as there is multiple brown wires back there. -------------

I just did an '03 Malibu- same car--- did not unhook ignition- just pulled wires out- took out radio AND heater control head- mounted modules under control head mount behind center consol- horn, trunk switch looked tough to get at, so I went to the BCM- easy to get to - under passenger side glove box- it slips right out- you van actually solder while sitting upright in the seat- door locks are easy- 2 relays added and unlock thru a 1500 ohm resistor- could have went to BCM white wire as well- but went to driver's kick panel- caugth parking lites at passenger kick panel- ran antenna up passenger B-pillar- This is actually a very easy install-- you can catch the passlock wires in a separate sheath next to ignition wires.

The Intrigue doesn't need relays for the door locks as it's a (-) trigger system that you can access both wires from the BCM as well as the parking lights (-) & the door trigger's.

actually, you can follow the ignition wires over to the passenger side, pull out the glove box, pull the fuse box down onto the floor, you will have plenty of wire to work with then

Can someone verify if the green wire in the ignition harness is an Ignition 2 wire or an Accessory 2 wire? I found diagrams that say each. One diagram (found here: https://www.7thgencivic.com/wiring/index.php) only listed one IGN wire... I need to know because I have to set a jumper to whichever it is. Thanks for all the help.

The GREEN is a 2nd IGN wire and DO NOT jumper this wire. Isolate the 1st & 2nd IGN wires from each other using a relay. Use this diagram to help: https://www.velocitymotorsport.com/images/install_notes/2nd_ignition_relay.jpg------------- Jeff

I think you misunderstood when I said "jumper". The unit I am installing has a jumper SWITCH that I have to set. If I hook the wire to IGN 2 I set the jumper switch to IGN 2 and if I connect the wire to ACC 2 then I set the jumper to that. Thanks

In that case, use 2nd IGN jumper.

Another question.. I have conflicting diagrams again.. I need to know which wire is the Parking Lights.. The diagram on this site says BROWN but the diagram here: https://www.designtech-intl.com/Content/techsupport/wirecolors/VehicleDetail?modelID=1118 says it's light blue?

All the Intrigues that I have done are BROWN in a blue connector

Jeff, thanks for the reply.. Can you tell me where you tapped in for the parking lights? I currently have the glove box out and all the IGN wires done.. I just have to do the parking light wire and the wires below. Could tell me where you tapped the following: Trunk (BROWN) - It says at the switch but I really don't have access to that Lock (RED / BLACK) Unlock (ORANGE / BLACK) OEM Disarm (ORANGE / BLACK) Thanks for your time..

Trunk (BROWN) - only found at the switch. You can pull out the wire from the bottom or remove the switch by pushing at it from the backside. Lock (RED / BLACK)- located at the BCM in the VIOLET connector. The BCM is located on the left side of the steering column Unlock (ORANGE / BLACK)-located at the BCM in the VIOLET connector. The BCM is located on the left side of the steering column OEM Disarm (ORANGE / BLACK)- at the driver's kick panel in a 32 pin plug located at pin # 5 The parking light wire you can access at the BLACK connector wit the blue clip just infront of the brake pedal switch. There is a GREEN wire , then a WHITE wire then there is the BROWN parking light wire. ------------- Jeff

Jeff, your helping me out very much on this install.. I appreciate it.. The brake wire (white).. Is it just in a two wire connector (the other wire being orange)?

Jeff, also... Is the lock/unlock wires in the same harness clip as the OEM (orange / black) disarm? I see no violet connector.. There are however a RED / black and orange / black wires in this harness. Thanks

Yes, that is the correct wire. The switch is a WHITE plunge type switch with the two wires in it as you desribed. ------------- Jeff

It's not completely VIOLET, rather just to top portion of it with a BLUE clip. Test the wires to ensure that they have 12 volts on them when at rest and (-) when triggering the lock/unlock. ------------- Jeff

Are the lock / unlock wires in the same connector as the OEM disarm?

The two wires I have tapped into are not the correct wires. The RED / black I'm tapped into provides about 11.5V with nothing on and doesn't change when I press lock/unlock. The ORANGE / black I'm tapped into doesn't provide any power with nothing on and also doesn't change when I press lock/unlock..

Take that back. I have the correct lock (RED / black) wire.. Just trying to find the correct ORANGE / black wire. There are two in the harness I am in. One (Pin 5) is supposed to be the OEM disarm. The other is the one I'm tapped into but isn't working. Is it possible the OEM disarm Pin 5 is the actual unlock wire?

Are you in the right area ? The BCM has 4 plugs on it that face down. Find the wires that will test (-) when toggled and 12 volts when at rest. The wire colors are correct that you have, just have to find the right ones. The OEM disarm will only test with the key in the cylinder and will be (-) when turned to the UNLOCK position.
