I was trying to put in a remote start with out using a bypass I know should have did it the right way. the problem im having is when i tryed to take the factory ring off it broke in half and now it wont read the keys the theft light just keep flashing is there any way to get by this problem.

You will need to replace the PATS cylinder ring. I don't know how much they charge for this, but if they have to reprogram new keys for you, chances are get ready for a large repair bill.

Nope.... Not now that you broke that ring... you could try a PK F 1, 2, or 3, (I dunno what one that truck uses) that taps into the harness but I think it might only work when the vehicle is remotely started.. you might be able to wire it hot all the time.. But I dont know if you could actually program the unit now, that the ring is busted...

The keyless bypass modules still need the signal induced to program the module with 2 active keys and if the ring is not complete, there's no signal going into the PATS computer. You'll have to bring this into the dealer from what I can gather with your posts.

the typicall labor operation calls for one hour to program keys, even though it only takes literally ten minutes. you should be able to buy just the exciter ring to go around the cylander. also on the older style pats cars (such as yours) you have to wait in between failed attempts to start the car. 30 seconds or so. if you only have to replace the ring you will not have to program the keys. as far as bypassing the pats... leave it to the car thieves. if your insurance company see that your pats ahs been bypassed they do not have to pay out on your claim if your car were to get stolen.
