I have a 96 4Runner with keyless entry. I recently got a valet remote start put in and they told me it would cost extra to use the valet remote to lock/unlock doors. They said they have to hook the remote start system up to my factory keyless system. This doesn't make sense though (it must already be hooked up) because the remote starter automatically locks the doors when I get in and put the key in. Is there actual labor needed, or does it just have to be programmed? Are they just trying to get me for more money?

Two simple wire connections. Sounds like they are lazy and money hungry.

2 wires, even though it already locks when started? Doesn't sound worthy of $60.

If the door locks when the key is inserted, brake is pressed and door closed, sounds like it is installed already. Try the remote to lock and unlock the doors. Sounds like they are trying to charge extra for something that was already installed! A simple two wire hook up, and that part does not need programming. Only the feature you mentioned.

The remote doesn't lock/unlock. Is it possible the feature is installed, just disabled?

No, are you sure that the ignition locks were not already part of the OEM system ? A simple way to test this would be to remove the fuse for the DEI system and see if it locks the doors when you insert the key into the key cylinder.
