I did a Astro 5002u today in the above truck, the RS part is fine, but I cant get the door trigger to work.. I the past with this unit I basically do a dome supervision - find the dome light wire + or - and connect that to the appropriate wire on my alarm harness.. This case the purple on the P1 connector, This connects to the BLACK/ lt blue in the driver kick panel (reads +12v when the dome light is on and gnd when it fades out.) And I grounded the - door trigger. In my mind it says when the door opens and dome light goes on there is a + 12v at my + input and with the - input being at ground I should have completed the circuit thus sounding the alarm. Well luck me it doesn't do anything until I touch the wire with my probe. (self powered off the cars cig plug).. Did I miss something... or do I have wires on the brain... any suggestions would be great!!

Thanks guys...

you grounded the negative door trigger? that is incorrect. the alarm is seeing that ground on the negative trigger and thinks that the door is open.the two inputs are completely independant of one another. just take the negative trigger off of ground and tape it up. your problem should be solved if i am understanding you correctly

I could be wrong here, ( I have only done a handfull of these alarm units 5200's

White (-) input door
Purple (+) input door Inputs + and - used to monitor intrusion through doors. connect the purple and wht to the prongs of dome light or any other light in the pass compartment. Both + and - connections are required. This type of connection is compatable with all switching types and will supportbattery saver functions found on newer vehicles.
That is right out of the manual.... Am I missreading or should my connection have worked??   I would have thought the same thing mister jimbo.... I can get the door triggers on the other side of the truck, but they rest at ground with the doors closed and open with the doors open... can that solve my problem???? BTW these are my only two inputs besides shock sensors ...

i am not familiar with that unit, but i have done years of alarms, and never ran into one that had you hook up both a posative and negative for door trigger. like i said i am not familiar with that unit, if what i stated previously does not work, wait for someone who is familiar with that product. i have done many expeds, and always used the black blue in the kick

On the door pins wires on ALL astroflex units you MUST use both the purple AND the white.

If your door trigger is NEG(-) take the white to the wire, and the purple to 12v   Or just the opposite, if its a POS(+)

Bottom line you gotta use BOTH door input wires from the P1

What you said doesn't make much sense, but if you can find an online version of the manual I will take a look at it.

Did you get the door trigger wires from the location Astro says.....or from a DEI type tech sheet?

Take the purple P1 to the BLK/BLU...and the white P1 to ground!

Thats what I did (I think) the blk/lt blu sends a 12v signal when the door opens and the white rests at ground. Now the dome lights stay on for a minuite or so after you lock (arm) the system.. after they go out I reach in and pull the doorlock up and open the door I get nothing.. the dome light comes on and I get 12v at my purple and as soon as I touch it with a probe the alarm sounds... a bad ground mabey??? Im stumped...

I have bothe tech sheets... Directwire and astro.. astro says dome sensor BLACK/ yell at keyless mod and it's an open - what good does that do??? It satisfies none of the criteria....ground when closed and open when doors open... shouldn't do anything but open the ckt...

One more thing. Throw away the test light and only use a digital multimeter. posted_image
