I recently installed a Crimestopper RS830 and a GMDL-BP in a 2004 Silverado and all works fine except that it will start up and run for only 40 seconds to a couple of minutes then shut off. I have it running in tach mode and when tested, the tach signal seems to be good and the security light is going out. Any ideas?

IF IT WERE A pASSLOCK ISSUE IT WOULD NOT RUN FOR A MINUTE OR TWO....( oops sorry )    i would relearn tach when its warm and see if that changes anything...    does the Crimestopper give you shutdown diagnostics like some of the other brands (DEI) do?  if so, what is that telling you shut the unit down?

what wire are you using for the tach?  i think on those year trucks you can still pull the gauge cluster out and use the only white wire back there.  be sure to test it, but on 99+ chevy trucks you can grab it right there.

I'm using the odd color on one of the fuel injectors.

That starter may not like the one cylider setting a injector wire supplies. Try the one behind the cluster, it's very easy to get to and is a solid 4 cylider setting.

Get your tach from the PCM under the hood.   White wire

Here's some info from DEI:

Tachometer white (ac) instrument cluster, pin A5 or PCM
Notes: The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is in the left front of the engine compartment to the left of the fan shroud. The tach wire is in the green plug, pin 10.

For tach can also go to any of the ignition coils or injectors and use the wire that is NOT pink, black, or brown.
