progressive door unlocks

i did a search and i did not find a satisfactory answer to my problem.

i do not think i have the progressive door locks hooked up correctly.

my assumption: since the driver's door is unlocked with one turn of the key cylinder and all doors are unlocked with an additional turn of the key cylinder, progressive door locks are simple as connecting the unlock trigger from the alarm to the unlock wire in the car.

what happens: the car does not unlock all doors unless i press the disarm/unlock button quickly and repeatedly until i hear the passenger door unlock. very uncool.

what i plan to do (one of you professionals please verify this): i need to hook up the "second unlock output" (in addition to the original unlock output) to the unlock wire on the car. do i need to diode-isolate these triggers?

this is a common occurance on toyotas. There should be a double pulse feature for unlock. What this does is, when you hit the unlock button it pulses the unlock wire twice. Thus actung as the key in the cylander turning twice. This feature should be programable in the features menu.

you need to wire the driver door lock wire seperatly from the other doors.

The question I have for you is do you want driver's priority door unlocking or not ? If you do then you have to do what extreme1 suggested and wire in a relay to the motor wire. If you want all door to unlock with one press of the button, then you have to program the system to double pulse the unlock wire as mladams suggested.

let me know if i got this right.

the negative door trigger from the alarm needs to be connected to both the (-) unlock AND (via a relay) the "door unlock motor" correct?

do i need to negative pulse the door unlock motor too? what does "5wi" mean?

do i need to wire in the door lock motor? if so, why would i need to do that?

finally, doing it the way extreme1 suggests will allow me to unlock the passenger door if i "unlock" within 15 seconds as described by the installation manual?

ok, i found out that 5wi means 5 wire and that i can use the DEI 451m (dual spdt relay) for this application.

i am still confused about how to wire it up. do i need to use all 5 wires on the 451 to actuate the door motors?

do i need to wire up the door LOCK motor? it is locking fine. the door unlock (once) works perfectly... it's just the progressive unlock where i'm having a problem.

The unit that your using has to have priority door unlock. There should be 2 wires for unlock, one for the driver's door and one for the rest of the doors.

yes, it does have priority if "priority" means progressive or 2nd unlock pulse.

i still don't know how to wire it up. should i connect the 2nd unlock wire to the car's unlock wire and diode isolate it from the unlock trigger from the alarm?

wait.. i think i'm starting to understand it a bit... tell me if i'm right...

the door power lock and power unlock triggers require very little current because they control relays that control the door lock and door unlock motor.

i have the option of controlling the door lock motor and door unlock motor using either my own relays or the 451m dual spdt relay that was included.

if there a benefit to controlling either or?

should both power lock/unlock triggers and lock/unlock motors be connected to the alarm brain?

anyone?

The thing is that you have to use both your own relay for the 5 wire lock motor and use the 451M for unlocking the rest of the doors. The 451M can not do both because the door lock motor uses a different type system to operate.
