I am installing a used but tested and working Code Alarm Surestart.

I have put in a few remote starts and alarms, but I am lost as to how to wire this in. The few wires I am lost on are

Ign 1

Ign 2

Starter output

Heater output

where do they go and what do I do with the(tap, splice, etc)

Also, how do I program it for 4,6,8 cyl, etc?

  • Ign 1------- Dark Blue at the ignition harness
  • Ign 2------ NA
  • Starter output ------ YELLOW at the ignition harness
  • Heater output ------ BLACK/ ORANGE at the ignition harness

SRS airbag wires are not enclosed in sheath at the steering column. They are a twisted pair run with rest of ignition harness. Be careful not to cut or probe these wires.

Use solder to connect the wires together and the system should have an auto tach learning sequence. Look in the install manual for this.

Thanks Jeff. I do not have a manual, so some more searching will be in order, but at least I now know the wires. Thanks!

Okay...I got it all hooked up, and it isnt working. When I click the remote, the brain clicks on, then clicks off. I checked all my fuses and connections. Everything is hooked up correct and working. When I checked the wireing from the brain, while pressing the remote, I do not have a signal going through the starter wire or the ignition wire. Im not sure if I am supposed to.

Would it possibly be the Ign 2 instead of ign 1?? from the alarm?

HELP!!!! ASAP!!! I am out in the driveway right now!

Double check that you have the constant wires hooked up ( most require two connections on separate wires ) and make sure that you have a solid ground as well. Make sure that you are in automatic transmission mode. There may be some sort of sequence that you need to perform to learn the remote control to the unit.
