I have an Extreme 3000 alarm connected to a Chevy C2, how do i connect the siren output to the cars horn? Do i need a relay? If i do what type of relay?
In the alarms diagram it shows that the output wire that goes to the alarm is WHITE/ Red and goes to the positive of the siren.
Thanx

Make sure your Alarm doesn't allow you to program Siren Output to Negative Out.
Otherwise:

SPDT Relay:
PIN 85 = Ground
PIN 86 = Wire from Alarm WHITE/ Red
PIN 87 = Ground
PIN 30 = Horn Wire

2 relays or 1 relay and a flasher if you want it to go beep-beep-beep instead of beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeppppppppppp.

I have a Chevy C2 with an Extreme 3000 alarm installed, i want to connect the siren output directly to the car horn. In the alarm diagram it shows that the siren output cable is WHITE/ red and goes to the positive of the siren.
Someone told me i need a SPDT Relay, but what type do i need? i mean, what voltaje and current does it need to handle?

What you need is a standard automotive relay available at installation shops or radio shack.

On the back are numbers, (check the sidebar on the left for illustrations)

85 would go to the WHITE/ red,

86 is ground

now, if you are using the wiring from the horn ring, they would usually be ground switching, if so, make the following connections... cut the wire going to the horn ring (found in the ignition column of most vehicles)

30 goes to the wire AWAY from the horn ring

87 goes to the one TOWARDS the horn ring

87a goes to ground.

If you're taking the horn wires up at the horn or where the wire shows positive when the horn ring is pressed, do the following hook ups after cutting the positve wire

30 goes to the wire going to the horn

87 goes to the other wire that was cut

87a goes to a fused battery source

on the second set of instructions for the positive horn side, install a 552 flasher on the 87a wire, so that it's between the relay and the power source.

Ok so here is my story. I live in Mexico, where apparently no one has the slightest idea of electronics. I recently had an Extreme 3000 alarm installed in my Chevy C2, but i dont like the 6 tune siren included so i want to change it to the cars horn. Here in Mexico they say it is not possible, but i know that with a relay and a flasher i can do it because i study electronics. The thing is that i dont know much about cars so i dont know exactly where to install the components. Can someone pleaaase draw me a little schematic of how i need to do it? My mail is zizmo@hotmail.com
Thank You

Thanks a lot for the diagram, but explain me something, the 87 goes to the alarm circuit (the wire that originally goes to the siren)? And shouldnt there be a flasher conected to the horn so it sounds beep beep, instead of a constant beeeeeeep? Sorry for being so annoying
