I have a 1998 Chevy S-10. I want to install an alarm with remote start. I really do not know a whole lot about installing alarms but I figure what the hell. I've done a lot of car stereo installs which I'm sure doesn't compare. I curious of a lot of thing. First off I'm not looking for anything super fancy. At first I just wanted a remote start system and my friend kida talked me into doing a full alarm also. I don't have power windows, I don't have power lock (Although I'd like to add them later) I was looking at a Viper 791XV (Anyone have any experience with this?) Also for someone that's never installed a Alarm, is this something I should be albe to do without too much trouble, or should I just pay someone to it. Also how can I find out if I have GM passlock ?

Thanks Guys,

Terry.

hey man.. i have that system in my 02.. its not a bad install.. most of our stuff is located at the bcm which is under the radio next to the accelorator.. you have passlock II in the truck.. all 98+ s10's have it... just take your time if your going to do it yourself.. read the instructions carefully and remember to match up polarity.. diode isolate the door triggers and install a tilt switch..   we dont need any relays or anything for our trucks so u wont have to worry about that.. just buy a good miltimeter and ur set...
