Subject: climate control not workin w/remote start

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram with an Avital Avistart 3300 alarm. Everything works fine except for the climate control(no Heat or AC, just the blower blowing regular air) doesn't work when using the remote start. The minute I put the key in the ignition and turn the key on the AC or Heater starts working. I assume this problem stems from one of the accessory wires. Right now the accessory 1 wire is connected to the output to accessory circuit wire on the alarm. Should there be anything connected to the 200mA accessory relay turn-on wire on the alarm. There is also an accessory 2 wire under the steering column, but nothing is connected to that one. I tested both wires with a multimeter and accessory 1 has power when the remote start is engaged. The accessory 2 wire does not power up with the remote start until the key is inserted and turned on. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks.

your goning to have to use the 2nd acc. wire (200ma output) from the unit to trigger a relay and supply power to the second acc. wire in the truck

Thanks! I am kind of new at this and don't want to sound stupid, but need it a simple as possible. Which wire do I need to connect the 200ma output wire from the unit to? Do I connect it to the accessory 1 wire that is already connected to the output to accessory circuit wire on the unit or do I connect it to the accessory 2 wire that only gets power when I turn the key on? Thanks.

you need a relay, connect the 200ma wire to pin 85, connect pins 30 and pin 86 to a fused 12 volt source, and then pin 87 to the acc. 2 wire in your ignition harness in the truck. (pin 87a is not used)

One more question. According to my alarm manual, it says -200ma accessory relay turn-on being negative. Does that mean that I need to connect pin 30 to a ground and pin 86 to a fused 12 volt source. Also, does connecting the horn for horn-honk along with the siren require a relay? Thanks a million!

Here's a link for a diagram that shows you how to use a relay to convert a (-) to a (+).

Converting polarity

For the horn you can use the alarms parking light output since it already has a flasher. You have to use a diode where you tap the vehicles parking light. I've added a modified diagram from the site.

Sorry...kinda new to the forum.  Considering a remote start option to my alarm system.  Trying to understand how it controls the HVAC of the car.  Have a 05 pathfinder with electronically-controlled HVAC function.  Does it have to be turned on before the car is shutdown prior to the next remote start?  Considering a Viper or carbine system.  Will these remote start systems activate the HVAC even if it was turn off?

Thanks for any insights and responses.
