i know anything is possible but is it common and very do-able to add an alarm system to a pre-existing remote start system and have the alarm remote control all the features?

2005 Sequoia
Prestige remote start (have not gotten the model number of the unit)

my guess is that the remote start unit has a wire that takes a negative trigger from anything (push button, negative trigger from a security system). i've never installed a remote start only so i'm not aware of its wires.

if this is the case it should simplify the alarm installation because i should be able to tap into the wires the remote start already uses for door lock/unlock. i've never done the toyota/lexus doors but they sound like the toughest part of the installation.

advice guys?

There are a lot of Remote Starts that have a Input to activate the Remote Start.  These type Remote Starts will usually activate from a Negative Output from the hosts system, be it a Door Lock / Unlock, Trunk, Pager, etc. Output
