Sorry, this was originally posted as a 04 grand prix.. Anyhow, this vehicle is locked up, Our installer used a GMBP Bypass with an Astro 2106u. The only wire he cut was the Pink in the Ign harness according to Bypasskits and correctly connected the pink & pink white wires to the key and ecm side. Now with the RS totally disconnected and the Pink Ignwire soldered back together, this car should run?? If I am missing something please let me know. Now the other side to this is he started to program the factory securuty system as stated in Astrochart, but he didn't have both keys so I dont know how he could even try to do this. ANy help would be great!! Thanks

Hmmm... second Grand Prix that I have heard this problem on in the past week. Pretty sure PK3 is impossible to lock up... but Mr. Murphy is a bastard, and always has a really baaad way of making his law very well known at times.

The other car I heard this happening to had a starter in it for several months. The immobilizer decided to freak right out, resulting in a no start condiditon by both key and remote. The dealer ended up replacing both the key reader and the other portion of the immobilizer at no cost to the customer. There may be a "soft recall" on this, you never know. Pretty much boils down to how well the local dealership likes you, and how often they blame starters for vehicle problems.

There are 2 seperate programming instructions: Factory Alarm programming which must allow you to not hook up a rearm wire. It must program passive arming or something like that. Then there is additional PK3 key programming. I assume you were talking about the latter when you said "factory security programming". I am not sure what you were talking about anyway. You said he tried to program another key with only one key? Programming another key only requires 1 programmed key and one blank key.

Anyway, I would check every wire you tapped into to make sure the wires are still connected. Especially with small wires, when tapping into them and soldering the wire to them, the factory wire can break if you were not carefully when stipping back the insulation and broke a few strands. On thin wires there are so few strands that breaking one or two then soldering can cause them to break by even the slightest tug on the wire. The best way to test this is by using your DMM to test continuity on every wire in the PK3 Harness from the key cylinder to the ECM.
