I put a remote starter on a 2001 mazda 626 the factory keyless entry should work with it but when the car is running the keyless entry doesnt work is there a way I can make it work with the car running? the keyless entry never worked with the car running.
I put a bulldog model RS82I it has a(+)aux wire that goes to the(-)doorlock wire so that the factory remote can be programmed to work with it. I should be able to start the car by hitting the lock button 3 times on the factory remote, but the car starts when I hit it 1 time, and when I try to stop with factory button nothing happens.
First of all...you should be able to program the input to 3 consecutive negative pulses by going into the programming of the unit.
This may or may not work for your Mazda. I've never done one. I did do an add-on starter to a Subaru last week though and ran into the same problem. Factory remotes are a common problem with newer cars. The remotes are disabled when the ignition is powered. The only way to get around that would be to locate the factory keyless module (where...I don't know on your car) and test each wire coming out of the harness. You can try looking at the two tan modules near the hood release. You need to first check for +12 volts on each wire while turning the key off and then on. When you find the wire that supplies the ignition sense to the keyless module you can usually cut and tape off that wire. Check to make sure everything else still functions properly after you cut it though. Some cars like Subarus also have a keysense wire that disables the factory keyless remote as soon as you insert the key into the cylinder. You would need to disable that as well (if your car has it) if you wanted to use the pit-stop feature on the remote starter.
