It's only broke,if you can't fix it.
Active arms with the remote transmitter only. Passive waits about 30 seconds after the last door is closed then automatically arms itself each time you exit the vehicle.
Well there are other type of passive arming and this feature is found in most popular alarm system ..
Passive arming is when you disarm your system via remote but you did not open the door or start the car within a minute that it will rearm the system automallicy ..
Reason for this feature if you accidently press the disarm button (stuffing remote in a tight pants pocket or coins pressing againist the buttons etc etc) and was not aware of it then it'll rearm itself if you did not open the door or start the car within under a minute ..
As long you open the door or start the car within a minute after pressing disarm on the remote .. it will not passive arm itself ..

Be carefull, cause theres also passive door locks....you can lock yourself out of you own car...THAT SUCKS

Oh yeah I forgot to mention about the door locks ...
Yes passive arming does lock the door when it arms because when you disarm it unlocks the door so if you never open the door or start the car then it will re-arm the car and lock the door again to prevent anyone entering the car that you may have accidently disarm it and not know about it ..
I have not locked my keys inside my truck yet but I have my led in a good location on my dashboard that it warns me it in passive mode by flashing rapidly letting me know not to leave the key in the truck unless I stop the passive arming in less a minute or just hold the door open until the led stops flashing informing me that passive arm is no longer active ..
