Put a APS-996A alarm on a 97 dodge ram deisel truck yesterday, should have been a basic install.  ran into some small problems.  The tach wire which is gray/blk on the pass side at PCM. would not program.  so look aroun and found a dark green wire that pulsed, and would program in but the starter would stay ingaged.  So set the alarm up for voltage sense then the truck would only run for 15 sec and shut down.  after messing with for awhile, changing the ground, and the battery going dead. after jump starting the truck and letting run for awhile. the truck worked fine.  that is , it worked fine for one day, now its back to running for 15 sec and shuts off. any thought on this???  second question is wired up the wait to start wire Grn/yel from the alarm to the wait to start wire org/blk at the pcm . cut that wire in half and install a 1 amp diode band facing the cluster and taped between the diode and the pcm,  this was done to keep the wait to start light from staying on, but it's still on dim, any thoughts on this??

The info I found, shows that the band should be facing the PCM, facing away from the wait to start light (dash)

Both wires are located at the PCM on the passenger side firewall or can also be located in the main harness that runs along the firewall

Umm, I dunno about the tach wire, maybe there is another of the same color?

good luck!

I'll change the diode, also told the customer to change batterys, they looked a little swollen.
