Hello, i was just wondering if anyone in the forums can help me with my parklight problem. I have a viper 791xv which was installed at Circuit City, one day i noticed that my parklights does not flash when i arm/disarm the system or just flash or stay on with the autostart feature. My lights and electrical in the car turns on and functions normally, so i know its the alarm prklight output that's the source of the problem... I did try to take the car back to Circuit city but the guy who installed it does not work there anymore and they stopped carrying DEI systems so im pretty much at a dead end....I checked the connections myself and i even soldered the wire back to the connection and still doesnt work... My main question, is there a fuse inside the brain for the light flash output??? i figured it must have shorted from inside the brain cuz i checked for voltage from the white wire and got nothing, even switched it to negative to try and see if i get a 200ma signal... Thanks for reading my post, i just hope someone can help me with this....

any suggestions on maybe rigging up anotherway for parklights to work other than with the built in lightflash output???

thanks
RO

WoW.....wat to go circuit city, your customer service SUCKS !! How do they stay in business?

Give some more info...year make and model of the rig.  That white wire you check SHOULD be fused externally, in line. Thats the way light flash wires are fused 99.99% of the time. If its toast, try to find another shop to give you some warrenty help...Tell them the story about circuit city, how they turned their backs on you. I HATE THAT !

If I treated people like that I'de be so screwed, being self employed !!!

ahh yes my man, but that's what sets us apart from the big box stores... customer service......

the white wire on the secondary harness on your Viper should have a 10 amp fuse on it to protect the lighting circuit.... check this fuse......

thanks for the response guys, if you could only imagine the frustration ive had with this whole scenario... i'm not going to beat around the bush, its not a big problem to just tap on to the siren output with a relay and have my parklights work again, but for the price that they charged for the alarm and install, on top of that, they took 2 days to wire it and not even explain to me how to arm and disarm the system, i just want to get what i paid for...

anyway, thanks again for responding, i really appreciate it. I will open up my console and check for that fuse, and mostlikely rewire the whole system over since i dont see any soldered points at all, and i've already seen 2 spliced connections waiting to just fall off... ill keep you guys posted...

that is very interesting.  i installed for circuit city for 3 months before i left to go to Audiovizions.  and they require us to solder everything, there is not a butt connector or T-tap in ANY circuit city ANYWHERE so im calling BS on you saying that you found no solder and some spliced connections.  anyway, yes circuit city now carries code alarm...sucks for them, and dropped DEI.  but ill tell you this, when i was installing there, we will still install a DEI alarm if it was bought from us and we will check out an alarm even if it was installed 5 years ago.  what they did to you was wrong and you need to talk to the store manager about it and get the service you deserve.
