I am getting an error when I connect my bitwriter to my Viper 791VX. I just installed the alarm and it works perfect. Now I want to program the alarm but I get the following error.

"not a valid system"

I have ver 1.4 in the bitwriter.

Any suggestions? Do I need to do something to the alarm to get it to communicate with the bitwriter?

ya, you need to upgrade the bitwriter to the newest version. I believe we are all on 1.6. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I barley use my bit writer

I was thinking of that, but the manual says that the 791XV needs version 1.4 or better. I will get the updated chip, thanks.

Does anyone know who in the Detroit area has the chips?

Go to AutoTechs.com here:  https://autotechs.com/items/item1117.htm

It's $10.00 before shipping.  If I remember correctly, shipping is around $5.00.
