 My brother and I just installed a Clifford RSX 3.5 on a 2004 Tundra double cab, the only issue i have when starting the vehicle the doors lock only sometimes. i have double checked its set to lock on start but its intermittent. As per the 1070 document I wired the relay to the drivers side with the diodes. The only thing I can figure its a resistance issue.On the 1070 it mentions " check to resistance on the keyless/alarm module " is that the Toyota keyless/alarm module ? if so where would I check this.

Would I have to install a resistor ? if so where.

Any help would be appreciated.

Resistor is not required.

Reading from your post I believe that the locking issue is related ground amperage. The Clifford module that you have is not supplying enough ground amperage to the DOOR ECU to lock the doors.   To remedy the problem all you need to do is add another relay to supply more ground amperage to the DOOR ECU.


Adding your second relay.

86 = connect to 12V
85 = connect to lock wire from the Clifford module and also to the 85 of the first relay on the 1070 FAX.
87 = connect to ground of the car body
30 = to the DOOR ECU lock wire, where you had originally hook up the Clifford lock wire to.

Thanks for your reply, I added the relay as you stated, but found out a ground amperage was not the problem.  After further testing, I found the problem to be with the rear doors.  When the rear doors are in the unlocked position, doors closed, upon key on, the doors will not lock.  I have the alarm set to two button push unlock with DEI 1070 interface wired into drivers door.  So, if I disarm RSX, (one button push) only unlocking drivers door, all other doors still locked, and I enter vehicle and close door and turn on ignition, it will lock all doors.  If I perform a two button push of the RSX and unlock all doors, when I enter vehicle and turn ignition on, it wont lock the doors.  The rear doors are dioded at BECU, RR to R-W @ 4-C and LR to R-W @ 16-B.  I tested both of these doors for triggering alarm and found to be OK.  To make things simple, vehicle wont lock doors with key on if rear doors are unlocked, (yes rear doors are closed during this process).

Where did you get the product?    Are you an authorized dealer? No....I thought not.........

I read all the posts I could find on this site about clifford alarms , Dont you think if
I was an authorized dealer I would have contacted DEI first? Im just trying to fix my problem and I would have thought some one may have run into the same situation and it might have and easy fix , something I may have over looked. You have been a big help.

Double check you diode again, make sure you have them facing in all the correct position like the diagram. I am stumped myself. The only variable I have in questions is the diode because sometime these little guy are a pain in the butt if it's over look.

Check this part:

Split the unlock wire off of your module with 2 diodes (stripe side to alarm module) and run one to the unlock wire, and one to the lock detection wire.


You mention several time in your post KEY ON. What exactly do you mean by it? "When the rear doors are in the unlocked position, doors closed, upon key on, the doors will not lock." "To make things simple, vehicle wont lock doors with key on if rear doors are unlocked, (yes rear doors are closed during this process)."

Do you mean key in the truck key cylinder and turn to run position?

Thanks for your reply thepencil, I did double check to see the diodes  stripe side to alarm module to the unlock wire and the lock detection wire just like the Directed tech document 1070.  I wired all the diodes to the alarm trigger wire(green) to the module and other side of diode, one to each door trigger wire at BECU connector. 

What I mean by key on is, upon entering vehicle and key in ignition clyinder and vehicle started, it wont lock the doors if rear two rear doors are unlocked.  If I disconnect the two rear door trigger wires, the alarm will lock the doors every time the truck is started.  But that leaves my rear doors unprotected.

Your right though, I really should check the diodes, not an easy task, diodes are heat shrinked individually with Mopar weather resistant heat shrink and burried up behind fuse block near BECU.  I guess I will have to get my brother to do that, since he is supposed to be the professional on these alarms.

THIS MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM, DIODES ISOLATE THE DOOR TRIGGER.

I thought I mention this incase this was over look and that a diode were not put here at the door trigger.

TOYOTA, TUNDRA DOUBLE CAB, 2004, Door Trigger

The LF door is gray/red, gray plug, pin 15. The RF door is lt. GREEN/ black, black plug, pin 8. The LR door is RED / white, gray plug, pin 16. The RR door is RED / white, black plug, pin 4. Use all four wires and diode isolate each.
