valet/override switch not working

just installed FM 2009 ver. 2.0 on a 2000 Buick Century. Icannot seem to get the valet/override switch to work. I cannot enter system programming. Also, after alarm is triggered, switch will not override alarm. Any clues?

plugged in correct slot and plugged in the correct direction ?

Yep, checked it twice. Also, every time I press the override I get a phone icon on my LCD that says call.
