I just installed the above alarm/remote start in my 1996 Acura Integra.

The alarms works great, but when I try and remote start, it starts, runs

for about 15 seconds then shuts off.

I am using the blue tach wire near the coil, but not sure if its correct

since the alarm requestion a voltage of between 1-5 volts.

HELP!

You seriously need help!  I say take it to someone that knows what they are doing.  Maybe Friday

You need to bypass the alarm.  The alarm module is located under the driver's seat.  You can get at the wiring in the driver's kick panel.  To bypass the alarm for the run time, you can break the BLACK / YELLOW wire at the alarm module with a relay (use output that is ground out while running)  This way the alarm will not sense that the ignition has been powered up.

Is the starter hanging on after it starts?

Yeah just after the starter stops it shuts off.

What alarm are you refering too?  A factory one?

There wasn't one that I was aware of!

It sounds like you are not getting a good tach reading.  Did you let it learn the tach?    My information says blue wire at test connector.  Definately double check the tach wire.

Nope.  I tested the tach wire, but it read like 12.8 v and went down a little

when I reved the engine.  I tried and other wire location that someone said,

and it tested the same.

Yes, I prog. the tach and it said it was ok.  Yet still no go.

Well, I am not familiar with that remote start.  Most have some kind of diagnostics to tell you why they shut off.  I will bet money on the tach wire being wrong.  Can you find an injector wire to try?

Any idea on where to locate this wire????

Not too familier with it.

When you tested the BLUE wire ( which is right if you used the BLUE wire at the distributor ) did you set the DMM to AC ? Make sure you do this and take the RED test lead and connect to a 12 volt source and place the BLACK test lead to the target wire ( test while vehicle is running and voltage should read 1 - 6 volts ). There is also another location for the BLUE wire found in a 16 pin white or gray plug to the left of the fusebox.

No, I didn't test it as that!

But I still hooked it up to that blue wire and it has this

problem.  I can try it again!

Any other ideas to try?

Test it like he suggested.  It is the only way to know you have the right wire.

Try the test method above to verify that the BLUE wire is indeed the correct wire. This way it will eliminate the possibility that it is your tach wire being the problem. Post your results.

Ok, I tested the blue wire and it is correct.

Sooo...  I brought it to a small local shop that sells

Avitals and they checked out the install and said that

everything seems to be in order.  He thinks that I have

a faulty Avistart.  I find it rather hard to believe since my

friend (avitalsux)  just installed his and has the same problem I do.

You can program the tach sensing just fine and it blinks

twice to confirm it.  Yet still won't stay running.

Do I just toss the Avital and the $$$ I spent on it?

I just don't know what to do????

Has anyone else run into this???

Any other ideas?!?!?!?

Do you have warranty on this unit or is it over 1 year old ?

Nope, no warranty.

Is it possible to have the alarm main unit and remote start

tested?

You can test it in another vehicle ? Other than that, there's no real way unless the shop that you bought it from can test it on their bench.

What about adding a cheaper remote start to the avital running it with an aux. channel?

As long as the Avital alarm has a wire that you can disable the system when remote started so that it doesn't trigger the alarm system everytime you use the remote starter.
