my friend has a toyota tacoma, i don't know the year but i'd be willing to be its an '01. she had a clifford matrix alararm/remote start installed. she had me check it out last night because it won't start her car. she told me what buttons to push and i did everything right, but it won't turn over the engine. i have a viper 790 xv or whatever on my car and was reading a little in the book about it. i was wondering if maybe the shop that installed her did not set the starter timer (or whatever) long enough. anyone have any ideas???

The clifford matrix alarm has the by-pass toggle. check under the dash or on the kick panel, when you find it flip it the other way.  also check the hood pin and make sure it has contact.  hope that helps
