Power door lock in my driver door does not work when I press on the switch on door trim.

Could someone please give me instructions on how to check the power door lock actuator. How can I check the wires to this actuator using volt meter to make sure wires are not broken. What voltage activates the unlock and lock function of the actuator?

If after all wires are checked ok, how can I remove the power lock actuator? I can remove door trim but I can't do further. I searched for this info all over without result.

Thank you veru much for your help.

the lock actuator is built onto the latch. the actuator itself has to be continuous w/ DMM.

the lk/unlk is at .333v or so at rest, jumps to 12v when energized.

when removing the screw that hold the latch, be sure to use an impact screw driver(hammer-type) or screw driver w/ wrench attched so you dont mess up the head.

profuse007, thank you for you input.

As I recall, there are 2 bundles of wires going to power door lock actuator. One bundle has 4 wires and the other bundle has 3 wires. Which wire should I check the voltage at for unlock and lock? Do you have wiring chart or know where I can get more information on this?

Also, there are linkage rods from actuator to outside door handle and to inside manual switch. Do I have to remove outside door handle first before I can remove actuator? In addition, the openning is so small that there is not enough room to remove the actuator. Do I have to remove the glass window assembly as well before I can remove the door lock actuator?

Thank you all again for any replies.
