I have a friend with an 87 Porche 911. It comes with a factory alarm and starter kill. It did not come with keless entry. He wants to add the keyless entry and have it control the factory alarm system. I am sure that is possible, but was wondering what you folks would recommend.
Thanks,

Usually eBay has some good deals on keyless entry units from DEI, Ungo or others. We sell one that has all the bells and whistles with two remotes and code hopping and can integrate with the Porche system for $ 99.00 USD.Here are some interesting notes about the Porche alarm system:
Most wires located under cowling by passenger side hood strut or at fusebox. Starter wire locate in large harness below fuel filler pipe below fusebox or under dash between ignition switch and plug through firewall. Door lock wires in round white plug on either side buried in corner below cowling by hood struts. Factory alarms were hidden behind the heater ducting under cowling - major disassembly required to access. Some years car will not run with alarm disconnected. Early cars armed and disarmed with a separate alarm key switch located on end of driver's door. Later cars arm and disarm with lock/unlock signal.

Jeff,
He had the key in the end of the door version. I was going to use a relay to take the place of the key switch. Any hints would be greatly appreciated. He is a bit retentive about his baby.

Chris;
I have not had the opportunity to work on a early model Porche so I really can't help you out with this one. You will need to find the wires that have a signal when the key is turned to engage and disengage the OEM alarm system. Then you will need to use a wire on the keyless entry to give the target wires a pulsed signal to engage the alarm system.

Have meter, will test and figure it out. Don't know what I would do without it. How do people live without a DMM?

You should be able to get it at the switch in the center console.. the buttom with the ! on it.. If I remeber right, for an 87 Carrera and I think that's the same car... 911 carrera turbo.. not 100%.. anyway.. this is it.. hope it helps.. should be BROWN / green and BROWN / blue for lock/unlock or GREEN / WHITE and blue/white at that switch.. It's been a long time since I worked on one of those.. if that's not it, let me know and I'll do a little more research on it..
